- Determine the location of the bus stop.
- Install two adiabatic panels connected to a rainwater retention tank.
- Design a green roof with low-maintenance succulents.
- Plant the vertical segment with climbing greenery with a root zone in open terrain.
- Add benches and an information panel to improve the quality of stay and communication.
- Implement a modular system construction made of durable, environmentally friendly materials. -
- Determine a suitable location based on measurements and questionnaires.
- Co-design a solution with the municipality, experts, and residents.
- Build a bioclimatic bus stop with adiabatic panels, a green roof, and vertical greenery.
- Install benches, an information panel, and a retention tank.
- Promote the project and collect feedback.
- Evaluate comments and propose adjustments.
- Ensure maintenance and the possibility of expanding the measures. -
Technological solutions used:
- Adiabatic panels – use water evaporation to cool the air around the bus stop.
- Green roof – lightweight structure with succulents to reduce surface temperature and provide evaporative cooling.
- Vertical greenery – climbing plants planted in open terrain for natural shading and microclimate improvement.
- Modular construction system – 3D-printed elements for easy assembly, integration of greenery, and high durability.
- Retention system – rainwater tank to supply adiabatic panels and vegetation (circular water management). -
The citizens of Ratiboř were involved in the preparatory phase through questionnaires and so-called feeling maps, which helped to identify the most overheated places in the village.
The public participated in workshops and a climate sandbox, where they collaborated with experts and village representatives to design the bioclimatic bus stop.
During implementation, the community was kept informed via the website, social media, local television, and the municipal newsletter.
After installation, testing and evaluation took place—residents of all ages provided feedback using online questionnaires and "emotional maps."
The municipality of Ratiboř played a key role as coordinator, landowner, and future manager of the bus stop.
Expert partners of the Be Ready project and climatology experts provided methodological support and evaluated the results. -
A pilot project in Ratiboř led to the installation of a bioclimatic bus stop combining green, blue, and white elements (adiabatic panels, green roof, vertical greenery). Residents positively evaluated its appearance and contribution to the microclimate, while also pointing out practical shortcomings (e.g., lack of lighting and rain protection). The project raised awareness of the problem of urban overheating, provided valuable feedback for further implementation, and confirmed the possibility of replicating the solution in other locations. Maintenance is provided by the municipality of Ratiboř.

-
- Positive impact on the microclimate and public space thanks to the combination of green, blue, and white elements.
- Feedback from residents will enable improvements to functionality and expansion of the solution to other locations. -
- Start with small pilot projects to test the effectiveness of measures and gain public support.
- Involve residents in the design and evaluation so that solutions meet their needs and are better accepted. - https://ratibor.cz/en/hledat?q=Be+Ready
